'So You Think You Can Dance' finale 2009: Which dancer will win it tonight?
Jeanine Mason (l.) and Brandon Bryant (r.) on the penultimate episode of 'So You Think You Can Dance' this season. On Thursday, the winner will be crowned.
It was their last chance to dance.
Actually, the four remaining performers on "So You Think You Can Dance" will have one more opportunity to dazzle TV viewers on Thursday night, in a two-hour finale at theKodakTheater inLos Angeles.
But the dancers' fates are already sealed.
By now, voters have decided who has leapt to victory from the ranks of what the judges have described time and again as the strongest field ever on the reality show.
Evan Kasprzakturned on the charm,Kayla Radomskiflashed her personality,Brandon Bryantmuscled it out, andJeanine Masonhit her stride in their final efforts to win over the public.
They performed in every possible permutation: both men partnered with both women, the women and men both did duets, and everyone performed a solo.
Among the standouts:
Kayla sparkled as she shook her fringe and high-stepped in cowboy boots in a jive duet with Evan in which she clearly outshone him.
Judge and producerNigel Lythgoedeclared that Brandon's scantily clad solo to classical music "wiped out the competition," but all the judges conceded soon after that Jeanine managed to match him in her tango-inspired turn alone on the stage.
Jeanine and Brandon together ended the night on a dramatic note with a paso doble.
But did it pass the test with viewers?
Evan is clearly a crowd favorite, with the audience at the cavernous Kodak chanting his name at one point in the evening. But the judges picked on him the most - will voters heed their reservations about the Broadway-style hoofer, or rally around him?
Mary Murphyand regular guest judgeAdam Shankmanboth demurred when asked to speculate on who will win it all tonight.
ButNigelwas more forthcoming, saying he thought Jeanine and Brandon were the stronger of the four after last night's routines.
All three judges said more than once that Jeanine had peaked at the right time.
